Creating a Grungy Feeling to my Photos

I wanted to create a grungy feeling because I believe that it would have made the photos more interesting and look a lot darker in that sense, I decided to do more grungy photos after we found a couple of different locations, such as a grungy old car park that is barely used and a couple of different abandoned buildings, as I thought the photos would turn out really nicely which they did.

Also, to get grungy photos it isn’t as simple as you may think because you have to think more about what you stand like, where you look, what you want to perceive through the lens of the camera, also it takes quite a lot of editing depending on where your location is and what you want from the photo.

My photos didn’t take too much editing because of the location it made the photos really grungy and it was just about changing the lighting in certain photos and maybe sharpening edges slightly to make them come out perfectly how I wanted them.

 

Ideas For Task 2

I First thought about changing my style completely, to dress like a character from Peaky Blinders from the 1920’s but then I thought that would have been quite difficult to recreate, so then I looked at other things such as what was simple to recreate, so I went with the smart casual look, in the end, a hoody with a denim jacket over it and a pair of jeans and trainers.

The photos turned out perfectly and were exactly what I wanted, even though it was a dead simple idea and was very easy to do it worked really well, but eventually I do want to create myself as a character from Peaky Blinders as I think it would look very cool and make a good set of photos.

Ideas For Alter Ego

I looked at Jay Swingler who inspired me for this as most of his photos are dead grungy or they look like they are completely unplanned, which I hope mine look like too, so I tried to recreate his pieces as I thought that they were very interesting.

we found a grungy old car park in Rhyl which we used for a photoshoot which I thought was the perfect place for what I wanted, I could do more in different places, such as old abandoned buildings but I don’t want to risk being arrested for trespassing thats my only worry about going into abandoned building grounds, even though they make for really good photos, there is always a risk to it, but I think that would also make my photos a lot more interesting as they would change in the different locations and my attitude towards what I want would also change massively in my opinion.

Ideas for Selfie Task

A few ideas I had for this task I wanted to take a photo of myself looking into the distance sat down somewhere but I couldn’t think where, and then we went on a trip to the local art gallery where I found the perfect place for it as the lighting was really nice and it looked grungy as well even though the place is newly renovated it looked like a run down place and it was perfect for what I wanted.

the photos turned out exactly how I wanted them and I was really happy with the way they turned out actually and I was very happy with the photos as I caught myself sat in different positions which turned out really good as well.

Ideas for Twins Film

For this film, I tried my hardest to think of what I could do for and for it to look good and be easy to edit, but that is the last thing I did I made it hard for myself to edit as I cross over myself, which isn’t easy to edit at all.

At first, I tried to do a shot where I passed a book to myself and then chucked it away but it didn’t work, because I didn’t realise to edit it, it had to show me walking off camera which I didn’t do, so I had to re-film it all and edit it all as a different film for it all to work and look the way it did.

I had a bit of help editing it, as my skills with premiere aren’t too great, so I had some help editing it and I’m learning slowly to use premiere but my skills aren’t quite up to scratch yet but they are slowly getting there.

Ideas For Rhythm Film

For this task, I had a few ideas because I thought of a few things I use everyday and thought about making sounds from that, some of these sounds were dead simple, such as shaking coins in my hand, and knocking on the table, but after I got them sounds it was getting difficult to think of more sounds that I could make.

So I tried to think what I could use, I then thought my student card holder makes a sound so I used that, then I was struggling to think what else, I then chose to stamp my feet and to see if my laptop would make a sound when I closed it which it did, and then I arranged them to make a small rhythm out of the sounds and it worked really well even though it isn’t very long.

Ideas For Green Screen Task

For the green screen task, I couldn’t think of that many ideas, so I thought id just have a bit of a mess around in front of the green screen to the camera as I wasn’t quite sure what to do, so I decided to get quite racist to see how that would look, but then I tried to act annoyed as I knew I was going to put Shia LaBeouf’s ‘just do it’ speech within my film and me reacting to it on the opposite side of the screen.

But I felt it worked really well as I didn’t intend for it to turn out the way it did, which was better than I expected because it genuinely looks like I’m reacting to what Shia LaBeouf is saying, which I didn’t really try to do but it just sort of happened.

Because the first idea I had was to make me look like I was swimming or flying but it turned out to be stupid but look good at the same time, but it just turned out to be completely stupid and dumb rather than well planned out and edited well.

Green Screen Task

I was given a task where I had to film myself in front of a green screen and see what it looked like and then I had to edit it using ultra key and put it into a video, with mine I used a clip we were given, which was Shia LaBeouf’s just do it speech, and I edited mine with that next to it and it sort of worked as I am still learning how to edit on premiere and it was the first time I used green screen for a film I had to edit.

Selfie task

I was given a task where I had to create a selfie of sorts and I decided to take a portrait of me in a room where the lighting looked really edgy and effective and make it look really nice and what I wanted and I was happy with the way it turned out.

I decided to take multiple photos, of me sat in different positions and with me looking at different angles just to see how it would look and they turned out really well and I was very happy with them.

Twins Film

For this film I was given a task where I had to make a clone of myself in a film so you see me on the screen at the same time, so as I put the clip together it looks like I pass myself something in the film, in this case I pass myself my headphones as I walk out of my room to put them down and the other me walks up the stairs and picks them up.
