NEC Photography Show Birmingham

A few weeks ago I attended the Photography show in the Birmingham NEC, where all the main competitors were there when it comes to photography, companies such as Nikon, Sony, Canon, Fujifilm etc, so I went to most of these stands to have a mess with some of the latest equipment that they had to offer.

I first made my way to the Nikon stand to have a play with the D850 which is the latest full frame camera that Nikon had brought out and I also had a mess with a few of their different lenses on my camera body, such as the 10-16 fisheye lens and also the 10mm fisheye and then also a couple of zoom lenses, such as the 500-800mm and the 600mm they were both very heavy but they were really interesting to work with even though I probably wouldn’t see myself using a lens of that size.

I also went to the Sony stand where I spent quite a while messing with a couple of their newest cameras such as the a7III and the Rx7 which are both full frame but they are so light it’s unbeleivable you would expect them to be a lot heavier but it was a massive surprise how light they actually were.

We also watched a demonstration with lighting methods at the sony stand which was really interesting and was really helpful and i have used the method that he showed us to see how it would look and it looks really effective and it’s also a really nice method to use for portrait photography with two speedlights and a colour filter.

London Trip

DSC_0953A few of us went on a trip to London, where we went to take some photos of a few different places, such as Tower Bridge, London Bridge, The Shard, Leake Street Tunnel and we went to these different places just as we walked around and we knew some of the places, but we found out about Leake Street Tunnel online whilst looking for graffiti locations around London.

We also went to a gallery called the national photographer’s gallery whilst we were in London, I was only really interested in the top floor, where there was a silent film of a coloured woman mourning her husbands death as he was shot in cold blood by a police officer just because of the colour of his skin.

Open Eye Gallery Liverpool

The second gallery we visited, there wasn’t a lot in there, but some of it was good and then there was some bits that I didn’t really understand what they were exactly about and some of it I didn’t think were interesting compared to other pieces in the gallery.

FACT Liverpool

This is one of the two galleries of the one’s we visited and in this gallery, there were a few pieces of art such as films and photographs that I did like and enjoy, as one of the films, which was by Wu Tsang called Under Cinema, which was very well made and enjoyable to watch compared to the first film, We Hold Where Study, as this film was well made but it was quite disturbing to watch, because of what was happening during the film.
